What we collect
- When you book a groom (online through our booking page, which Bookd runs for us, by phone or by message): your name, phone number, email address and home address; your dog’s name, breed, age, weight, health conditions, vaccination status, temperament notes and grooming preferences; and your appointment dates, services, grooming notes and payment records.
- When you contact us by phone, email, text, WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook: your contact details and whatever you tell us.
- Photos: before-and-after photos of your dog. We only share them publicly, for example on Instagram, with your consent.
- When you visit this website: it has no forms and sets no cookies. Our host keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested and time) for security. We use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which does not use cookies or collect personal data, to count visits.
We do not ask for special category data about you, such as your own health. Health details about your dog are not special category data, but we look after them with the same care.

Who we share it with
Only the service providers that run our bookings and this website, each bound to use it only on our instructions:
- Bookd (GETBOOKD LTD) — our online booking page and client records. Bookd stores booking data with Supabase on servers in the EU (Stockholm), sends booking emails through Resend and text messages through Twilio, and takes card payments through Stripe.
- Stripe — card payments. Stripe handles your card details directly; we never see or store your card number.
- Vercel Inc. — hosts this website and the Bookd booking page, and keeps server logs.
- Ahrefs — Ahrefs Web Analytics, a cookieless visit counter on this website that does not collect personal data.
- Namecheap — forwards email sent to our @thegroomingboutique.co.uk addresses to our inbox.
If you message us on WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook, Meta handles that message under its own privacy policy. In an emergency involving your dog’s health, we may share your contact details and your dog’s health notes with a vet, as our terms of service explain.
International transfers
Some of these providers process data outside the UK (mainly in the USA). Where they do, we rely on the UK–US data bridge, UK adequacy regulations or the ICO’s international data transfer agreement or addendum to keep it protected to UK standards.
How long we keep it
- Client, dog, booking and payment records: while you are an active client, then 6 years after your last appointment, as HMRC record-keeping requires. You can ask us to delete non-financial details, such as your dog’s notes, sooner.
- Messages that don’t lead to a booking: 2 years from our last contact, then deleted.
- Photos you’ve agreed we can share: we take them down if you withdraw your consent.
- Server logs: kept by our host for a short period for security.
Your rights
You can ask us to: see the data we hold about you; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to how we use it; give it to you in a portable format; and, where we rely on consent, withdraw that consent at any time. Email info@thegroomingboutique.co.uk or call 07725 573163. We reply within one month. No decisions are made about you by automated means.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint · 0303 123 1113.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Our cookie notice lists the services your browser contacts when you visit.
